Elena Semenova
soprano
Elena Semenova was born in Magnitogorsk. She studied playing the piano at a music school and music college. In 1995 she entered the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory where she studied singing with Prof. Maslennikova. Then she a post-graduated student at the Moscow Conservatory.
In 2000 she won the First Prize of the First International Elena Obraztsova
Vocal Contest and became the Grand Prix winner of the Russian National Competition Bella
Voce.
Since 1998 Ms. Semenova has
been a principal with the
Helikon Opera Company (chief
director Dmitry Bertman)
and performs the following
roles there: Michaela Carmen, Antonia Les Contes
dHoffmann,
Alice Falstaff,
Marfa The Tsars
Bride, Tatiana Eugene
Onegin, Blanche Les
Dialogues des Carmelites,
Mermaid Mermaid by
Dvorack, Servilia La

Boheme, Traviata La
Traviata, Iolanta Iolanta,
Donna Anna Don Giovanni.
In 2005 Ms. Semenova covered the role of Natasha Rostova and made her successful
debut as Musetta in La Boheme with Opera de Paris.
She also won a prize of the Belvedere Competition in Vienna (where she got also
some special prizes, including the prize of mass-media and in the Prize for the
best stage presence).
In 2006 she performed the title role in Martinus Juliette for
the Opera de Paris and concerts in China with orchestra BBC (chief conductor
Jiri Belohlavek).
In 2007, she Ms. Semenova sang Musetta La Boheme as a guest artist
at the Mariinsky Theatre.
In the future she will perform the Violetta as a guest artist of Estonian Opera.
She will also sing Natasha Rostova in War and Peace with Canadian
Opera in 2008.
