Mr. Akimov has performed at the world’s leading theatres; among them the Metropolitan Opera, La Scala, Covent Garden and the Grand Opéra in Paris.
 
Mr. Akimov has taken part in joint productions of the Mariinsky Theatre/San Francisco Opera (Prokofiev´s Betrothal in a Monastery) and Mariinsky/La Scala (Musorgsky´s Boris Godunov) in addition to various projects with many of the world’s leading artists, such as Giuseppe Giacomini (Otello), Plácido Domingo (Parsifal) and Ferruccio Furlanetto (Boris Godunov).
 
In 2002 at Rome´s Accademia Santa Cecilia Mr. Akimov performed as Zinovy Borisovich in Shostakovich´s Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk under the baton of Mstislav Rostropovich.
In 2003 together with Maestro Gergiev, Mr. Akimov performed the song cycle “From Jewish Folk Poetry” by Shostakovich to open the Carnegie Hall season. Also in 2003, he took part in the premiere of Rodion Shchedrin´s new opera “The Enchanted Traveller”, conducted by Lorin Maazel (Avery Fisher Hall, New York).
 
In 2002-2003, he toured with the State Musical Theatre of Rostov on Don to the UK, performing as Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly) and Count Almaviva (Il barbiere di Siviglia).

In 2004, Mr. Akimvo appeared at Teatro Regio Torino as Don Antonio (Prokofiev ´s Betrothal in a Monastery).
In September 2007, Mr. Akimov appeared with Maestro Esa-Pekka Salonen in “Boris Godunov” at the Hollywood Bowl, Los Angeles, CA.
In 2010, Mr. Akimov performed the tenor solo in Rachmaninoff’s “Bells” with Gewandhaus Orchestra (Leipzig, Germany).  In the spring 2011, Mr. Akimov reprised “Bells” with RTE National Symphony Orchestra (Dublin, Ireland), made a house debuts with Dallas Opera and Opéra de Nice as Dmitri (Pretender) “Boris Godunov”.
