Biography

Mr. Astakhov studied at the Russian Academy of Theatre Art (1996 – 1999) under professor Vladimir A. Matorin and further studies at Galina Vishnevskaya Moscow Opera Centre (2002 - 2004) prof. Galina Wishnevskaya.   In 2009, Mr. Astakhov attended the Accademia Internationale di Canto ''Renata Tebaldi - Mario Del Monaco" master classes of Professor Mario Melani in  Pesaro, Italy.

Past engagements include soloist of the Helikon Opera Theatre ( Moscow, 1999); soloist of Novaya Opera ( Moscow, 2000); soloist of the Moscow chamber music theatre (2001); soloist of the Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Centre (Moscow 2002-2004);  soloist of The Foundation for culture Artmosfera Bruno Contini, Italy(2005); soloist of The Foundation Irina Arkhipova in Moscow (2005); soloist of the National Academical Symphonic Capella of Russia, Conductor V. Poliansky (2006-2008).

Concert engagements include: J.S. Bach “Messe H mol” at the Grand Hall of Moscow Conservatoire (2006); Alvise “La Gioconda” at the Grand Hall of Moscow Conservatoire (2006); Berlioz’s “The Childhood of Christ” at the Tchaikovsky concert hall (2006); Shostakovich “The Great Lightning/The Gambler” Concertgebouw, Amsterdam (May 2006); Solo Recital in Royal Philharmonic Hall Liverpool (October 2006)

Mr. Astakhov has been a soloist of Oper Leipzig (Germany) since 2008.  Roles performed with Oper Leipzig include: Sarastro (Die Zauberflöte), Judge (Jenůfa), Commendatore (Don Giovanni), Zuniga (Carmen), Grenvil (La Traviata), Titurel and second Gralsritter (Parsifal), Sparafucile and Monterone (Rigoletto), Mephistopheles (Faust), Gremin (Eugene Onegin), Colline (La Boheme),  and Don Basilio (Il Barbiere di Siviglia).   Mr. Astakhov continues his Fest contract in Leipzig through the 2010-2011 season.

In Leipzig he will essay the roles of Sarastro (Die Zauberflöte), Judge (Jenufa), Commendatore (Don Giovanni), Zuniga (Carmen), Grenvil (La Traviata), Titurel and second Gralsritter (Parsifal) and Don Basilio (Il Barbiere di Siviglia).
